Cayman International Sevens

The Cayman International Sevens burst onto the international rugby scene in 2001 with the bold ambition of becoming the premiere international sevens tournament outside the World Sevens Series.

The tournament was founded by Cayman Rugby Enthusiasts Ltd who saw the need for a top class international tournament serving North America and the Caribbean. The tournament has gone from strength to strength in four short years. Hurricane Chantal which nearly caused the tournament to be over before it began is a distant memory and the tournament now boasts $50,000 in prize money and a reputation for sevens rugby that is second to none.

The calibre of teams and players has increased tremendously and the tournament now attracts the best sevens teams in the world. 2004 saw the tournament link up with the Fijiian Rugby Union to extend an automatic invite to the winner of the BP oil Sevens series in Fiji. Red Rock the 2003 and 2004 champions proved why they are back to back champions in Fiji by winning the tournament at their first attempt.
